Roles

Everyone who logs in has one role. An admin sets it in the person's account, under Users: the Role field in the sidebar.

Translators #

A translator changes the text of the languages other than the default, and nothing else:

  • Only translated text. Fields that are the same in every language (pictures, dates, settings, the order of rows) are read-only. So is everything in the default language.
  • Drafts only, where there are drafts. On pages, articles and the other documents with drafts, every save is a draft, and there is no Publish button: an editor reads and publishes. On the header, footer and microcopy, and on collections without drafts (such as dealers and product families), there are no drafts, so a saved translation is live at once.
  • Nothing new, nothing deleted. Translators do not create or delete documents, upload media or restore old versions.

Translators read what editors read, except form submissions and the records behind the quality panel (corrections, proposals, evaluations and proofreading runs).

Admins and editors #

  • Editors manage and publish all content and media in every language. They do not see Site settings or Users.
  • Admins can do everything, including Site settings, users and their roles. Only admins set roles, and never their own.
  • The first person to log in to a new site becomes an admin.

Your own account #

Open your account from the picture at the top right of the admin: change your password, and, where your site lets people connect their own AI assistant, create the key for it. See your developer's guide for the assistant.

These guides ship with Tolk Starter 0.6.0: buyers get the same pages in their repository, next to the code they describe.
