Translation
Every text on the site is written in the default language first and translated from it. You can translate by hand, as on any multilingual site. Where your developer has set up AI translation, the admin also translates for you, following your company's own rules, and learns from what people correct.

- β¨ Translate translates a page, an article or a setting into the languages you pick, as a draft to read before you publish. A second AI reading, the review, makes marketing copy sound written in the language.
- Memory, glossary and style guide are the rules every translation follows: your company's voice, the terms that must always be translated the same way, and wording people already approved.
- Translation status shows what is translated, missing or out of date in every language, and translates the whole site in one go.
- Blocks in other languages keeps each language's blocks in step with the default language's.
- π Proofread and π¬ Copy desk correct the default language's text before it is translated, and let you talk to the AI about any text on screen.
- Files and imports translate Word, PowerPoint, Excel and InDesign files, and bring in translations made elsewhere.
- How the translator learns from what people change and report.
What your site has #
The AI tools run on your company's own account with the AI service, set up by a developer. Without it:
- the β¨, π, π¬ and π© buttons, Translation status, Translate a file and Proofread the site are not there;
- you translate by hand: switch the language at the top of the admin and write;
- the block panel still copies blocks between languages.
Some sites instead let people connect their own AI assistant to the glossary, style guide and memory. Then those three are in the admin even without the AI buttons. Your developer's guide covers it.
Who does what #
- Editors and admins translate, review and publish in every language, and run the tools that work on the whole site.
- Translators translate and correct the languages other than the default. Where there are drafts, they save drafts and an editor publishes; on the header, footer, microcopy and anything else without drafts, their changes are live at once. See Roles.
